I happened to stumble upon this information a few minutes ago while I was going about the monotonous task of restoring all my "lost" information to my newly repaired laptop. Anyway, when I arrived at Vincent D'Onofrio's imdb page, I found this new movie listed for 2010; i.e., "High Midnight." Well, it's new to me at any rate, however, the rest of you "Vixens" may have heard about it already.
Now, I have been told that anyone can put anything on these sites, so it may not be true at all, therefore, I shall rely on those of you who possess more stalwart investigative skills than I to undertake the sleuthing for me.
This brief synopsis was provided: "A broken-down sheriff is forced to join forces with an obsessed Victorian vampire hunter to defeat an undead force consuming a small frontier town in 1892 New Mexico." VDO has top billing and his character's name is Marshal Stoudenmire. Vampires, the undead, the wild, wild west and Vincent D'onofrio. Who could ask for anything more?
Now, I don't much care for vampire or scary movies, but I have to admit that I rather fancy the notion of VDO in a western. Ah, yes... that's a delicious image to have in my head as I fall asleep tonight.

"Good Luck" Favorite Scene
I have never made a secret of the fact that I am not a huge fan of a good many of Vincent D'Onofrio's films. Often, the subject matter is not my particular cup of tea, or he doesn't play a very "likeable" character, or he has such a minuscule role it is hardly worth the effort to watch, or he...you know...dies. Be that as it may, even though I may not like the movie or the character he portrays, one thing is a given...VDO will "always" give 150 percent of himself and turn in one whale of a performance. He is the consummate actor.
Every now and then, however, one of VDO's movies will catch my eye and turns out to be a real "gem." "Good Luck" is one of those movies. I don't know what I was expecting the first time I watched it, but what I discovered was a funny, charming, witty and all-around "feel good" movie. I am not going to bore everyone with an in-depth analysis of a movie most of you have probably watched scores of times. I'm just going to say...if you have not seen this one...be sure to add it to your "must see" list of Vincent D'Onofrio films.
Now, there are several "noteworthy" scenes from this movie; i.e., the furniture throwing scene, the crabbing scene, the touch football scene...to name a few. But the most memorable scene...hands down...for me at any rate, is the "morning after" scene in the bathroom when Olee summons Lem to take a look at the...ahem... "deposit" he has just left in the bathroom bowl.
I "howled" with laughter the first time I saw this...and every time since. Then, after my laughter subsided, I realized how impressed I was with VDO's acting ability...not just in this truly hilarious scene...but the entire movie. It cannot be easy for a sighted person to play a blind character. But I have never in my life seen anyone behave with such uninhibited, unbridled "joy" over having, as Olee would say, "squeezed out a honey" of a bowel movement. Only Vincent D'Onofrio, folks...one hell of an actor.
And I would be remiss if I did not mention how well Gregory Hines and VDO acted together in this movie. "Good Luck" was a decidedly different kind of "buddy" movie, but it worked...beautifully. It is one I watch often, and I highly recommend it.

Best War Movies Of All Time
So, I'm messing around on the Internet last night, and I find this link for the Best War Movies Of All Time. I like movies. Who am I kidding? I love movies...yes...even a good war movie. Whenever I find a "list" like this, I'm always curious to see if any of the movies I've seen and liked made the cut, so I started clicking through the pages.
You know, I've never seen the movie "Full Metal Jacket" although I've certainly read enough about it and Vincent D'Onofrio's haunting portrayal of Private Pyle. I was not truly surprised that FMJ made the list...No. 6, in fact. The "blurb" about the movie says: "What It's Good for: It's Kubrick's gritty look at the dehumanizing effects of basic training and the even more brutal experience of combat during the Tet Offensive. Matthew Modine stars, but Vincent D'Onofrio, as the seriously disturbed Pvt. Pyle, will haunt your dreams."
When one follows the "link" to Vincent's name, there is a brief biography that states: "An actor whose hulking presence belies his ability to slip quietly into an astonishing variety of roles, Vincent D'Onofrio is one of Hollywood's most unpredictable and compelling performers." Unpredictable and compelling...that sounds about right.
There's so many nasty and unkind things said about VDO on certain websites...that shall go forever unnamed...that it was so refreshing to accidentally stumble upon this small tribute to his talent.
My search of all things Vincent D'Onofrio also led me to his "imdb" page where I found that he is listed as a cast member in another movie for 2009..."Brooklyn's Finest." The movie stars Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Lily Taylor. Couldn't find out much about the movie and it doesn't look like he has a very large part, but at least he can add another film to his credits...to the delight of his faithful fans.
