"Loyalty" Part II - Initial Reaction - SPOILER ALERT

Don't read this if you haven't seen the show yet; I need to vent a bit.

Well, except for the last five minutes, I cannot begin to tell you exactly how much I HATED this episode. I don't think it did justice to Bobby and Eames...not even close. Too much time was spent on the sub characters/plot, too much time on Nichols, wayyyyyy too much time was focused on the new chick -- who I instantly disliked when she turned and said, "One more thing," when questioning someone. I SCREAMED, "that's Bobby's line, you bitch!" There was just way too much of EVERYTHING...except Bobby and Eames.

Wasn't it nice of them to make Eames a captain "pro-tem" (is that the right term) so she could fire Bobby. I get why they did it that way, but it still pisses me off. Good for her for telling them to stick it.

And SHIPPERS everywhere will be delighted to see Bobby kiss Eames on the cheek before he gives her that good-bye hug.

Yes, they explained the plot they started last week, but for an episode that was supposed to give us a satisfactory conclusion to Bobby and Eames, it fell far, far short of the mark...at least for me. I'd say I'll have more to say once I digest it and watch it again, but I don't know if I want to watch it again. One thing is for sure, it won't take me long to screen cap the Bobby and Eames scenes...there's aren't that many of them.

One last thing. The opening scene is of Ross' funeral. We see Eames in her dress blues and Nichols in his dress blues, but Bobby is in a suit. That stuck out like a sore thumb for me, and sort of set the pace for the whole episode. I mean, the freakin' writers deprived of us that visual of Bobby in his dress blues. What a crock!

I am very, VERY disappointed. Someone out there tell me I'm wrong...tell me it's not as bad as I think it is. Please...anyone? Well, I'm off to bed, but I don't believe I'll be drifting off to sleep anytime soon. Yes, I know it's silly to get this riled-up over a television show, but I am. I never thought I'd see the day when I said this, but D'Onofrio and Erbe are well rid of these nitwits.

Glad you're "live" with this so I also can have my initial reaction. Basically, I echo your sentiments. The first thing I thought with the dress blues was that USA was too cheap to have its wardrobe department fit VDO for a new uniform. I also thought Goldblum looked kind of odd in his; maybe I'm just used to him as a paleontologist. Too much time on the secondary characters (I actually read a chapter of my Michael Connelly book during their scenes!); could have consolidated some of the dialogue there to give our pair their do. The new detective is far too precious with her ability to speak fluent French and read Arabic. Finally, as one inclined to shippiness, I felt almost overcome by the love in that embrace and that redeemed the episode for the most part. Those two are far from done.

Nope, you're not wrong...It Was Horrible. As a loyal fan for the past 8 years I feel SO cheated. This episode should have been ALL about Vincent and Kate, For Gods Sake, Chris Noth got a better send off...I'm LIVID.

And, Why wasn't Bobby wearing 'dress blues'?

Sixtwosue: Yes, oh yes, you are so right about the wasted time spent on the secondary characters. I forgot about the new chick being so smart. I look at it this way, it takes two of them to replace Bobby's genius.

I'm not a shipper...never will be...but I respect those who lean that way. I did let out a loud HOOT when he kissed her, and said out loud, "That will make all the shippers happy." Like everything with these writers, they didn't have the "balls" to commit that one way or the other. Those of us who don't think of them as a couple will think they left the building and went on with their individual lives. Those who "ship" will think they hooked up after Eames resigned. Either way, both groups are happy...on that point at least.

I'm still so freakin' disappointed. I can't believe how awful this episode was.

Yes, Tess...CHEATED! That's the word I was looking for. I'm so upset I cannot properly summon all the words to impart how I feel. I know what you mean about the dress blues. The first thing I said when I saw the suit was, "Why isn't Bobby wearing his dress blues?" I couldn't concentrate on the scene because I kept saying that over and over...like that was going to change things and he would magically appear in uniform.

You're right about Noth, too. He got a better send off, and he was only on the show for...what...three years. How unfair. Can't wait to see what the Vixens across the Pond think about it. I figured you would call Diane straightaway and give her the disheartening news.

I thoroughly understand why VDO has recently stated he won't be going back for any guest appearances. Don't blame him.

For what it's worth, I just feel really let down by the way the departure of the two most important cast members was handled. I hadn't been looking forward to seeing them go, but I had hoped for an episode where they got to do what they do best, as in work together..not much of that was there?

The scene in the captains office was probably the only part of this thing that will leave a good impression, I shall write the rest off

Can't believe I got up at 4.30 just so I could watch it :-(

It is beyond disappointing. How dare they give them a finale that made no sense, no allusion to their strengths and their hearts that made them who were and their value to NYPD.

For me it was unwatchable, forced myself to watch #2
and am still shocked at the garbage of a story.
Shame on Dick, I am sure he could have influenced a
script worthy of VDO and KE's contributions.

I think it admirable they agreed to do the script at all.....

I think we all appreciated that the USA Network just couldn't WAIT to be rid of Vincent and Kate (and Eric!), but it's the first time they've caused Trans-Atlantic texting of a frantic nature between Tess and I at 11pm/5am respectively!

There are another 14 episodes of the new team (what a HELLISH thought!!!!) so, they might at least have had the decency to leave the episode clear of Ostrich Head and his new bimbo partner until Goren and Eames had departed. I'm still too upset about it all right now - and too ANGRY! - but at some point I'll be joining Vincent in being 'Happy to be going'

I'd love to tell you it was a good episode - but I can't. It was rubbish - save for the kiss and hug, which I liked - and I'm not a shipper.

I agree with everything you said. Am working on my own review of both episodes but it's amazing how much we both seem to have in common. I also have to add and will in my blog that I resent Goldblum having billing over Erbe. I was pissed about that for the entire episode.

I thought All In was the worst episode of LOCI ever but this one is right up there in a tie for that title.

I didn't get why they billed him in this one, but not in the last... made no sense at all. But KE should've been billed before JG, now that's for sure!

I live in Germany and asked some friends to record this two episodes and send the DVD to me. Now that I have read your comments, I know that I will be as disappointed as you are.

Without VDO and KE there is no LOCI. Really sad.....
