Purgatory...The Episode

You know, I don't read message boards because...well...for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I know what I like about an episode and what I don't like. Usually, they just end up pissin' me off, so I stay away.

My opinion...for what's it's worth is...I LOVED IT!! I was not disappointed. It was definitely worth the wait. This one leap frogs straight to the top of my favorite list. And it opened up a whole can of worms in some areas that should make for a very interesting rest of the season.

Here is my feeble effort at screencaps. One of these days, I swear to God I am going to figure out how to convert my Amazon downloads to a format that allows me to view them in something other than Windows Media Player...can't cap in that. I've downloaded no less than five different programs and ended up with nothing more than "frustrations galore."

Oh, well...here's 58 of the 450 I captured. Yeah, I really do need to get a life of some sort.

Purgatory Part I

Purgatory Part II

Oh, I loved it when the Drug Boss called Bobby "Cowboy" because I call him that, too.

The only thing I hated about the episode is USA's incessant need to place their ads in the bottom left corner. It detracts from the show and Bobby's beautiful face.

Congratulations on a job well done. He looks beautiful and I need to kiss him all over. No changes there then!

Uh, that sounds ominous, Tate. What did I do wrong now?

Diane, I didn't want to say too much until you get a chance to see it in the UK. And, yes, he looks great.

Oh, nothing wrong. You just say what I'm thinking too often.

Well done hon. Especially under the circumstances.

Windows Media Player will let you burn to dvd, won't it? Then you can download Cyberlink PowerDVD to play and cap it. That's what I use and it works a treat.

Thanks, Val and thanks for the tip. I think I tried that, but it's been a while and I went through a phase where I tried...like...five different conversion programs, so now I'm not sure what I did and didn't try.

I use PowerDVD...per your very kind suggestion a ways back.

I'm sure Eliza has the episode on the way to you. I think you will really like this one. But then I could be wrong...I often am. LOL

Meanwhile, until you get the opportunity to cap your own, you can feast your eyes on these and the ones on the Reel and at Eliza's. I'm sure there are others, these are just the ones I am familiar with.

I loved this episode so much that I know I'm going to watch it again in the very near future!!

I loved the Cowboy tag for Bobby,I loved that Bobby managed a smile or two despite everything,I loved the longer hair and beard(shallow, sorry).Wasn't so keen on Alex telling him a few home truths, however justified she was,and really didn't like the rat thing.Thats all I can think of at the moment :-)

I agree with everything you said, Eliza. Actually, I will probably watch it again tonight when I get home while I'm resting my back in bed.

I loved the "Cowboy," and everything else you mentioned. It was hard to listen to Alex's litany of complaints against him, but he probably had a lot of it coming, and none us likes to have our shortcomings flung in our face. I think this has been stewing inside her for awhile.

This was just a well balanced, well acted...almost...dare I say it...the perfect episode. For me at any rate.

I'm afraid the "rat" thing is going to come back and haunt our boy. He is now "labeled." Anybody remember "Serpico?"

That's all I'm saying.

On of the things I liked best about this episode is that Bobby seemed to lack confidence when he was undercover, he was bascially forced into it, it was obvious he didn't want to do it. The scene where they wanted him to do a line of coke, having worked in Narcotics you know this wasn't the first time he'd been faced with that situation. He looked nervous, almost scared, that's something we don't see from Bobby.

You're right, Tess. I've been meaning to mention that scene all day. He said in "The Insider" that he wouldn't be any good at under cover work. (Now, I know there are a lot of Vixens out there who are skeptical of that comment and would like to have a chance to dispute it personally, but I digress.)

Ross told him he couldn't drink or do drugs and Bobby replied that he couldn't do that. Had me scratchin' my head on that one; does he drink all that much or actually "do" drugs...I don't think so. Anyway, I loved the play of emotions across his face...you could tell he was trying to figure out how he was gonna get out of that room without doin' the cocaine.

Actually, I think the knock at the door was the easy way out...too convenient. I wanted to see how Bobby finagled or wriggled his way out of that situation, but that's just me...and my POV.

I'm glad most seem to have enjoyed it. I'm a little less enthused about it but it's just my jaded view and my desire to not see such a depressed and troubled Goren anymore.

Cute things, did anyone else catch it where Daniels (the narcotics cop)made a comment about being amazed over the swiftness with which the autopsies were done and that Major Case must have some pull. I thought immediately of Ross and Rodgers. LOL

Also loved Eames telling Stoat to get his feet off her partner's desk.

And in a way, despite my dislike of partner angst, I'm glad Eames went off on Goren. She apparently was incredibly upset about his placing his life in danger again and that was the straw that final broke the proverbial camel's back. I do wish he had defended himself a little better. Having Mr. Push the Limits and Bend the Rules deliver that line about not telling her because it went against the rules would have set me off, too.

I'm just looking for some sign that things may at least get a little better for our beloved detective.

Here's hoping there are a couple of 'Depths' type episodes where they work the case and Goren actually smiles once or twice.

Oh, and Tate. Like I always say...great minds. LOL Anyway, you can always email me privately if you want. I think my email is accessible from my profile.

A follow-up comment to what I said about Bobby and the cocaine scene...not that anyone will see it at this late date, but I need to express this somewhere and don't want to devote an entire post to it.

After watching Purgatory for the fourth time now, I realize that they cut to commercial with Bobby still "contemplating" what he was going to do. So, I guess my question becomes....did he, or didn't he? Still another "possibility" that could come back to bite him in the butt sometime down the road.

And now...that's all I'm saying. And if you believe that....

jazzy said...

i would not mind if he did.
(hope you get that right)

BobbyG said...

Because I'm obsessive about trying to get the details "right." After the coke scene, they cut to the scene with Bobby coming out of the coffee shop and running into Eames...not commercial. In any event, they left us up in the air (no doubt on purpose) as to what he did. I know what I "choose" to believe.
